Every year on March 21 people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks. March 21 or 3/21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of DS chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!
We have partnered with PALS Socks (www.palssocks.com) to offer some crazy, zany socks for sale. Buy these to wear on WDSD as a conversation starter to raise awareness about Down syndrome. 50% of your purchase will go towards supporting our educational programs & services.
What will you be doing on World Down Syndrome Day?
