Rock Your Socks – 2019

Together we can create a single global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion, and well-being of people with Down syndrome in our community and around the world.  Every year, on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks.  March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of DS chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!

For 2019, we have partnered up with PALS Socks to raise awareness about Down syndrome.  From now till March 21, 2019, you can purchase these colorful, mismatched socks at any Learning Program session (limited quantities), or order them online.  Online orders can be picked up at any Learning Program session or shipped directly to you (delivery fee applies).

If you’d like to use this opportunity to raise awareness in your school, consider becoming a Volunteer Seller!  You’ll be provided age-appropriate instructional materials promoting the acceptance and inclusion of students with Down syndrome, as well as training & online tools to collect sock orders from others.  This is a great way to help raise awareness about Down syndrome in your learning community. Volunteer Seller orders have to be submitted by March 1st in order for the socks to be delivered the week of March 15, 2019. Please contact Renee Vekiarides for more information.
